Suresh Krishna is the Co-founder, MD & CEO of Yunus Social Business Fund Bengaluru and Co-founder and Partner of Yunus Social Business India Initiatives. 

Suresh has over 2 decades of experience working with poor and low income populations. Suresh, was at the helm of affairs at CreditAccess Grameen (erst. Grameen Koota) since its inception in 1999 as Managing Director till July 2015 and non-executive director till July 2017. CreditAccess Grameen is India’s largest NBFC-MFI with a portfolio size of more than $1.2 billion. He has played an active role in building the microfinance sector in India, and co-founded several MFI associations. He is also the Managing Trustee of Navya Disha Trust, an NGO working in the area of WASH and financial literacy.  He has also served as Director in a USA based company called Mifos.org which built an open source MIS system for MFIs and an MFI in Indonesia called BinaArtha.  He currently serves as an independent director in companies like Mifos.org, Sanghamitra Rural Financial Services, Grameen Foundation for Social Initiatives, Centrum Microfinance, SMILE Microfinance and Waste Ventures P. Ltd. He is passionate about social businesses, micro housing, financial literacy and livelihoods for the poor among others.  

Suresh has a background in teaching and has led and worked with social businesses for more than 25 years. He has studied international microfinance models and strategies from several reputed establishments including Grameen Bank, Bankakademie, Germany and Harvard Business School, USA. Suresh is an alumnus of Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bengaluru (India).

Sipika Nigam is a Senior Investor at Yunus Social Business (YSB) Fund in Bengaluru, focusing on investments in livelihoods, agriculture and healthcare sectors. She is responsible for all aspects of deal sourcing, due diligence, transaction process, post-investment support, and sector building within YSB.
Sipika has more than 9 years of experience in the Impact sector across financial inclusion, Fintech and Agri & value chain – financing, in India, Indonesia, Cambodia, Sri Lanka and China.
Prior to joining YSB, she was appointed as the EIR for a leading crowd funding platform in India – Milaap. Prior to Milaap, Sipika worked as an Investment Manager for Asia region with the Impact investing firm, Incofin. Sipika is a CFA level 3 candidate, and has a bachelors in Management Studies specializing in Finance. She is a trained commercial pilot and holds an American (FAA), as well as Indian (DGCA) commercial pilot’s licenses (CPL).

Sai Kumar is a Senior Portfolio Associate at Yunus Social Business Fund Bengaluru. He is responsible for all aspects of deal sourcing, due diligence, transaction process, and post-investment support within YSB.
Sai Kumar has over 9 years of experience across investment banking and consulting. Prior to YSB, he was an Associate with the TMT practice at o3 Capital, a mid-market focused investment bank. He was previously a Consultant with KPMG India in their Business Consulting division.
He holds an MBA (Finance) and B. Com (Hons) from Sri Sathya Sai institute of Higher Learning, India

Gayana is a Portfolio Analyst at Yunus Social Business Fund Bengaluru. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in commerce from a prestigious college in Bangalore and has specialized in Finance and Accounts. She has successfully completed two levels of the chartered accountancy course. Apart from academics, Gayana was actively involved in the college magazine and served as the head photographer during her college days.
Previously, Gayana has worked with Dexter Capital and JCSS Chartered Accountants . She started out young juggling work and academics, has more than 5 years of experience working across private equity, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital internal audit, statutory audit and due diligence.
Gayana is a passionate trekker, yoga enthusiast and a true foodie at heart.

Asif Khan

Asif Khan is a Company Secretary and Accounts Manager at Yunus Social Business Fund Bengaluru, and has relevant experience in handling Corporate and allied laws. Before joining YSB, he was a Company Secretary at one of the reputed developers of real estate called Bearys Group and was responsible for management of Statutory Compliances under Companies Act & Labour Laws; collection, analysis and organising information with regards to filings under the RERA Act and implementation of annual compliances for all the Companies falling in the Group.

Asif is an Associate Member (ACS) of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) and holds a degree in M. Com from Ravenshaw University.

Manasi Parvatikar

Manasi is the India Project Manager at Yunus Social Business Fund Bengaluru. Prior to joining YSB, Manasi was an Engagement Manager at a social impact consulting firm, Sattva. At Sattva, Manasi has worked with social businesses, foundations, bilateral agencies and governments in India and Sub-Saharan Africa. Her experience in the social impact space includes capacity building for social businesses, funder portfolio advisory, impact assessment, and program management. She has worked in sectors such as agriculture, livelihoods, gender equity and rights, waste management, natural resource management (NRM) and healthcare. Before this, Manasi has served consulting outfits in the technology space, co-authoring reports on topics such as Scaling Indian SMBs using digital and Federal Budget analysis for the Information Technology sector. Manasi is a Mathematics graduate from the University of Delhi

As the Managing Trustee of T. Muniswamappa Trust, a registered public charitable trust, Ms. Vinatha M Reddy has been working in the development sector since 1995. A chance encounter of a book review of ‘Give Us Credit’ by Alex Counts, proved to be a turning point in Vinatha’s life. The book that narrates the story of Professor Muhammad Yunus and his initiative The Grameen Bank inspired Vinatha immensely. She was very moved by the power of micro finance and its effect in enabling poor women to become independent.

She is the Founder Chairperson of Grameen Koota, which is today a leading microfinance institution in India, serving 15 lakh women clients and their families. Education and empowerment are closest to Vinatha’s heart and she remains committed to help change social situations for the better.

A leader in the Social Business Movement, Saskia Bruysten was Co-CEO of Grameen Creative Lab prior to founding YSB. She started her career at the Boston Consulting Group in Munich and New York. She was appointed to the EU Commission’s expert group on Social Business and has assisted Professor Yunus on UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon’s MDG Advocacy Group. She holds an MBA from the European Business School, Germany and a MSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics.

Aarti has developed and led the India operations of the YSB movement since its inception, first as Country Director of the Grameen Creative Lab and now as part of Yunus Social Business.

She helped create the YSB Fund Mumbai and currently manages it. Aarti has also advised several Indian universities, corporations and non-profits on creating social businesses. Previously, Aarti worked as an investment banker at JP Morgan in Mumbai.

Aarti holds a Master’s degree in Finance from the London School of Economics.

Lakshmi Viswanathan is Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer at Yunus Social Business Global Initiatives.

At YSB, Lakshmi is responsible for overseeing the worldwide investment and portfolio management activities as well as building and training the investment team. Before joining YSB, Lakshmi was an independent consultant after a stint as an entrepreneur in India. Lakshmi was also for several years Vice President (Strategy & Operational Excellence) at Sodexo SA. She also has several years as a strategy consultant, at McKinsey and as an independent advisor. Lakshmi has extensive international development and impact investing experience having worked in Sub Saharan Africa, Latin America and South Asia.

She holds an MBA from the Ross School of Business, Michigan and a Bachelors in English Literature from Osmania University.

Ltd.  Currently, he is the Managing Director & CEO of SMILE Microfinance, a mid-sized micro finance company in India. He also serves as a part-time faculty for a MA program in Leeds University and a board member in several non-profits.

Lamiya Morshed has been the Executive Director of Yunus Centre, the global hub for social business activities of Prof. Muhammad Yunus, since its inception in 2008. Her experience with Grameen social businesses spans almost 20 years.

In 1994, she joined Grameen Trust, which supports and implements poverty-focused microcredit programs in more than 45 countries, and worked as its Director of development, before becoming the Head of Yunus Secretariat, now known as Yunus Centre, in 2006. She works closely with Prof. Yunus and also serves as the Executive Director of Grameen Healthcare Trust.

SELCO provides sustainable energy solutions to poor households in rural India, through solar-based interventions and low smoke cook stoves. Professor Muhammad Yunus co-founded YSB Global Initiatives, and currently serves as the Chairman of the Board for YSB Global Initiatives. He is additionally the founder of Grameen Bank. Today, Grameen Bank has over 8.4 million members -97 per cent of who are female and has lent over US$12.5 billion since its inception. In 2006, the Norwegian Nobel Committee jointly awarded the Nobel Prize in Peace to Professor Yunus and Grameen Bank “for their efforts to create economic and social development from below.”

Since 2006 Professor Yunus has focused on spreading and implementing the concept of social business. He has written three books about micro-lending and Social Business: “Banker to the Poor” (2003), “A World Without Poverty: Social Business and the Future of Capitalism” (2008) and “Building Social Business” (2010).

Among Professor Yunus’ many awards and honors he has received all three highest US Civilian awards (Presidential Citizens Medal, the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Gold Medal). Thereby he is one of only seven people in history that has received these awards, along with recipients Martin Luther King Jr., Mother Teresa or Nelson Mandela. In 2009, Forbes named Professor Yunus one of its “10 Most Influential Business Gurus.”
