Mr. Suresh Krishna is the Co-founder and CEO of Yunus Social Business Fund Bengaluru and Co-founder and Partner of Yunus Social Business India Initiatives. Prior to this, he was at the helm of affairs at Grameen Koota, since its inception in 1999 as Managing Director (till July 2015).  He was instrumental in developing Grameen Koota into a large, socially responsible MFI having its outreach in 5 states of India. He has co-founded the microfinance industry associations, namely Microfinance Institutions Network and Association of Karnataka Microfinance Institutions. He has played a very active role in developing the microfinance sector in India. He has also co-founded Grameen Affordable Shelters P. Ltd – a company which develops affordable housing for the low income households along with Mrs. Vinatha M. Reddy – Founder of Grameen Koota. He is the Managing Trustee of Navya Disha Trust, an NGO working to improve water, sanitation, financial literacy, supplementary education for school children. He currently serves on the board of BinaArtha – an MFI in Indonesia, Mifos.org in USA – an open source core banking software for financial services, SAS Health Care P. Ltd. – an affordable healthcare company for the low income households. Mr. Suresh is a regular speaker and presenter at various national and international forums.  He is passionate about agriculture, social businesses including micro housing, financial literacy, client education, renewable energy, waste management, health care and livelihoods for the poor.

Priya Shah is a Principal at Yunus Social Business Fund Bengaluru, where she leads investments for the fund. Prior to this, she worked in strategy and finance at Simpa Networks, a social enterprise providing asset financing for solar home systems to rural customers via a prepaid metering solution. Priya began her career in capital markets at Bloomberg LP, after which she gained wide-ranging experiencewith start-ups and impact advisory organizations in the UK and India. She holds an MBA from Cambridge University and a BA in History from Brown University.

Akhil Pawar is a Portfolio Associate at Yunus Social Business Fund Bengaluru. Prior to YSB, Akhil worked as an Investment Banking Analyst at Goldman Sachs, working in their Leveraged Finance team, providing debt financing solutions for European technology firms and financial institutions. Before that, Akhil was a Ratings Analyst with Deutsche Bank. Akhil is a Financial Risk Manager certified by the Global Association of Risk Professionals. He holds a Master of Science in Economics and a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering from BITS Pilani.

Geet Kalra is a Short-Term Associate at Yunus Social Business Fund Bengaluru. Prior to YSB, Geet worked as a Risk Manager for various financing and derivatives businesses of Nomura. He holds an Integrated Masters from BITS Pilani. Apart from academics, he led multiple student organizations during college and has been conferred with various awards for the same. He is also an avid researcher on the topics of Economics, Finance and Entrepreneurship and has many publications and projects under his name. In his free time, he enjoys hiking trails, playing football and reading non-fiction books. Geet hopes to buy a rocket to take him to the moon one day.

Prashantha Bhat is a Company Secretary and Accounts Executive at Yunus Social Business Fund Bengaluru, where he is responsible for secretarial and legal compliances. He is also responsible for maintenance of monthly accounts, book keeping and capital investments into social businesses.  Prior to joining YSB, Prashantha worked at N K Hebbar & Associates, Bengaluru, as a Company Secretary. He began his career in S P Krishnamurthy & Co, Chartered Accountants as an Account & Audit Executive.

Prashantha is a Commerce Graduate (B. Com) and Associate member (ACS) of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India.  He is also a qualified Accounting Technician certified by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

Vinatha M Reddy

As the Managing Trustee of T. Muniswamappa Trust, a registered public charitable trust, Ms. Vinatha M Reddy has been working in the development sector since 1995. A chance encounter of a book review of ‘Give Us Credit’ by Alex Counts, proved to be a turning point in Vinatha’s life. The book that narrates the story of Professor Muhammad Yunus and his initiative The Grameen Bank inspired Vinatha immensely. She was very moved by the power of micro finance and its effect in enabling poor women to become independent.

She is the Founder Chairperson of Grameen Koota, which is today a leading microfinance institution in India, serving 15 lakh women clients and their families. Education and empowerment are closest to Vinatha’s heart and she remains committed to help change social situations for the better.

Saskia Bruysten

A leader in the Social Business Movement, Saskia Bruysten was Co-CEO of Grameen Creative Lab prior to founding YSB. She started her career at the Boston Consulting Group in Munich and New York. She was appointed to the EU Commission’s expert group on Social Business and has assisted Professor Yunus on UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon’s MDG Advocacy Group. She holds an MBA from the European Business School, Germany and a MSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics.

Aarti has developed and led the India operations of the YSB movement since its inception, first as Country Director of the Grameen Creative Lab and now as part of Yunus Social Business.

She helped create the YSB Fund Mumbai and currently manages it. Aarti has also advised several Indian universities, corporations and non-profits on creating social businesses. Previously, Aarti worked as an investment banker at JP Morgan in Mumbai.

Aarti holds a Master’s degree in Finance from the London School of Economics.

Chief Investment Officer, YSB Global

An investment executive and strategy consultant with over 20 years of international experience, Karen has a professional background in venture capital with extensive expertise in fund structuring, investment processes and fundraising. Before joining Yunus Social Business in early 2012, she served as the Chief Financial Officer at biotech start-up Affectis AG where she successfully extended the investor base and raised over 4 million EUR of funding for the company. From 1997 to 2003, Karen was an Investment Manager at the leading international Private Equity group Apax Partners with a focus on the life sciences sector. Karen started her career as a consultant at McKinsey & Co.

Karen graduated with distinction from INSEAD, Fontainebleau, and holds an M.Sc. in Biology from the University of Constance, including her international studies at Ben-Gurion-University in Israel as well as Sussex University. Adding to her international background, Karen lived in Japan for 5 years prior to joining YSB.

In addition to her responsibility at YSB, Karen has been an advisor to Swiss based business angel network “Brains to Ventures” since 2004 where she is still a member of the Investment Committee. She has held several board positions in European life science companies.

Srinivas is a Founding Partner at o3 Capital and co-heads the investment banking division. Srinivas has more than 19 years of investment banking experience and has been instrumental in development of o3 Capital’s investment banking practice.

Prior to o3 Capital, Srinivas was with TAIB Bank – Bahrain, where he focused on setting up their Investment Banking practice in India.

Lamiya Morshed has been the Executive Director of Yunus Centre, the global hub for social business activities of Prof. Muhammad Yunus, since its inception in 2008. Her experience with Grameen social businesses spans almost 20 years.

In 1994, she joined Grameen Trust, which supports and implements poverty-focused microcredit programs in more than 45 countries, and worked as its Director of development, before becoming the Head of Yunus Secretariat, now known as Yunus Centre, in 2006. She works closely with Prof. Yunus and also serves as the Executive Director of Grameen Healthcare Trust.

A Social Entrepreneur, Dr. Harish Hande co-founded Solar Electric Company (SELCO) in 1995. SELCO provides sustainable energy solutions to poor households in rural India, through solar-based interventions and low smoke cook stoves. Dr. Hande is the recipient of many awards including Ramon Magasasay (2011) and Karnataka Rajyotsava Prashasti (2011) by the Government of Karnataka. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Professor Muhammad Yunus co-founded YSB Global Initiatives, and currently serves as the Chairman of the Board for YSB Global Initiatives. He is additionally the founder of Grameen Bank. Today, Grameen Bank has over 8.4 million members -97 per cent of who are female and has lent over US$12.5 billion since its inception. In 2006, the Norwegian Nobel Committee jointly awarded the Nobel Prize in Peace to Professor Yunus and Grameen Bank “for their efforts to create economic and social development from below.”

Since 2006 Professor Yunus has focused on spreading and implementing the concept of social business. He has written three books about micro-lending and Social Business: “Banker to the Poor” (2003), “A World Without Poverty: Social Business and the Future of Capitalism” (2008) and “Building Social Business” (2010).

Among Professor Yunus’ many awards and honors he has received all three highest US Civilian awards (Presidential Citizens Medal, the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Gold Medal). Thereby he is one of only seven people in history that has received these awards, along with recipients Martin Luther King Jr., Mother Teresa or Nelson Mandela. In 2009, Forbes named Professor Yunus one of its “10 Most Influential Business Gurus.”

Sophie Eisenmann

Sophie Eisenmann

Co-Founder and CFO

An expert in creating social business funds and executing investments into social businesses, Sophie is responsible for setting up country initiatives in Haiti, Colombia and Albania as well as multiple various consulting projects for corporate social businesses. Before co-founding YSB together with Prof. Yunus and Saskia Bruysten, Sophie held the position of COO of Grameen Creative Lab. Prior to that, she worked for Siemens Management Consulting in Munich as well as GE Capital in London, Amsterdam and Munich. She holds an MBA from the European Business School in Germany and an MBA from INSEAD, Fontainebleau and Singapore.
